JOBST® Nighttime Garments

Supporting Lymphedema Management Beyond the Day

Effective lymphedema management does not stop when the day ends. While daytime compression plays a critical role in controlling swelling during activity, patients are equally vulnerable to lymphatic fluid reaccumulating during periods of rest and sleep. Reduced muscle pump activity and prolonged positioning at night can contribute to rebound edema, discomfort, and compromised skin and tissue health.

Without adequate overnight support, progress achieved through daytime therapy may be diminished, making continuity of compression an essential component of long‑term lymphedema care.

Why Nighttime Compression Matters

Nighttime compression is designed to:

  • Help maintain edema reduction achieved during the day
  • Minimize overnight fluid reaccumulation
  • Support tissue health during prolonged inactivity
  • Improve patient comfort and confidence between therapy sessions

Clinical evidence supports combining daytime and nighttime compression as part of a comprehensive management strategy.

A prospective observational study published in the British Journal of Community Nursing demonstrated that patients with stage II lymphedema who used both daytime and nighttime compression noted better edema control and improved overall well-being.

JOBST® Nighttime Compression Solutions

JOBST® offers a portfolio of nighttime compression options designed to support patient comfort, adherence, and clinical outcomes during rest and sleep.

JOBST® JoViPak®

Targeted nighttime compression for edema and fibrosis management

JOBST JoViPak garments are designed to counteract nighttime fluid accumulation and support maintenance of edema reduction achieved through daytime therapy. Their blended foam construction and stitched channel system create multiple pressure points intended to stimulate lymphatic flow and soften fibrotic tissue.

Available in a wide range of anatomical solutions and compatible with specialty pads, JoViPak systems allow clinicians to tailor nighttime compression for localized or complex edema presentations while supporting patient comfort during rest.

JOBST® Relax

Nighttime compression supported by observational study outcomes

JOBST Relax is a night compression garment designed to complement daytime lymphedema therapy by helping maintain edema reduction and limit fluid accumulation overnight. The flexible, cushioned design enhances comfort, adapts to movement during sleep, and is easy to don compared to self-bandaging.

In a prospective observational study of patients with stage II lymphedema, most rated comfort, fit, breathability, and ease of use as good or very good, with nearly all reporting good sleep quality. Patients also noted improved tolerance of daytime compression the following morning and fewer skin-related complaints. These findings highlight how a breathable, lightweight, and secure-fitting design can support adherence to nighttime compression and overall lymphedema management.

Bellisse

Compression bra to support healing after breast surgery

Bellisse, distributed by JOBST®, is designed to provide gentle, compression for breast and chest wall edema following breast cancer surgery and other thoracic procedures. The Compressure Comfort inner support system facilitates lymphatic drainage while remaining suitable for day and night wear.

Bellisse can be worn alone or with JOBST JoViPads placed in integrated inner pockets to address pitting edema, fibrosis, or localized swelling. Its adjustable design and smooth profile support consistent use during sleep, addressing a key gap in nighttime truncal compression options.

Supporting Long-Term Outcomes

By extending compression therapy into the nighttime hours, clinicians can help patients maintain therapeutic progress, improve comfort, and support long‑term outcomes. JOBST® nighttime compression solutions are thoughtfully designed to balance clinical effectiveness with patient comfort, helping make round‑the‑clock lymphedema care achievable and sustainable.
